Research and Theory
Our Research and Theory Master’s thesis programs combine big picture awareness with specialization to create some of the most well-rounded and well-regarded academics in the nation. The goal of our research Master’s is simple: to shape competitive, developed academics who aspire to greatness in communications. Thesis programs include the following areas of focus:
- MAMC –Customizable Research and Theory, includes:
- Advertising
- Journalism
- Media production, management, and technology
- Mass communication law
- International and intercultural communication
- MAMC – Concentration in Public Relations
Core Courses, Specializations, Minors and Supporting Fields
Courses are prescribed for some concentrations, while in others students may choose from a variety of offerings. Customizable degree plans may involve combining specialization courses from two or more concentrations.
Length of Program
Most Research and Theory students complete their master’s studies in two years. The time required depends largely on whether the student is working and therefore must carry a reduced course load and how rapidly progress is made on the thesis.
Studies may be extended for students who lack adequate background in their specialties. They must complete, beyond minimal degree requirements, articulation courses as determined by their advisers.
Qualification for Doctoral Program
Highly qualified students whose master’s requirements have been completed, or will be completed by their proposed admission date, may be considered for admission to the college’s doctoral program.
