McKenzie Barney, B.S. Telecommunication 2012, is a global human-powered adventurer, filmmaker, writer and speaker. She recently completed a multi-year, mostly solo project to cycle the world through five continents, 28 countries and 18,000 miles by way of Africa, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and Europe. Her “Cycling The World” film tells the story of Barney’s quest to see the world by bicycle.
Barney is an Emmy Award-winning producer, having worked on documentary films and series for National Geographic, Outside Television and Fox Sports. She’s filmed interviews and produced programs featuring Bill Clinton, Ringo Starr, Mia Hamm, Mike Tyson and more. McKenzie has written for industry-leading outdoor brands such as Columbia, Goal Zero, Big Agnes, Bedrock and had her stories published with The Radavist and Bikepacking Journal.
