Huan Chen and Jasmine McNealy Promoted to Associate Professors
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Advertising Assistant Professor Huan Chen and Telecommunication Assistant Professor Jasmine McNealy have been granted tenure and promoted to the rank of associate professor.
Chen joined UFCJC in 2015 as an assistant professor in the Advertising Department. This past year, she was a co-winner for UFCJC’s Faculty Research Award, received the McGraw-Hill Distinguished Scholar Award, and won top paper in the AEJMC Advertising Division Special Topics category. She has published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented more than 40 papers at major academic conferences. After serving as an assistant professor at Ocean University in China, Chen relocated to the United States in 2005, graduating with distinction from UF with a master’s in Advertising. She then earned a doctorate in Communication and Information in 2011 from the University of Tennessee.
McNealy also joined UFCJC in 2015 as assistant professor in the Telecommunication Department. Prior to coming to UF, she had served as an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky, Syracuse University and Louisiana State University. She is currently a fellow at the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard University, Digital Civil Society Lab at Stanford University, Data & Society Research Institute, and the UF Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center. McNealy is also chair of the ICA Communication Law and Policy Division. She received both her master’s and doctorate from UFCJC, as well as her law degree from UF Levin College of Law.
