FPREN to Receive 2024 Florida Emergency Preparedness Media Award
The Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN) will receive the 2024 Florida Emergency Preparedness Association (FEPA) Media Award for their outstanding efforts in educating and informing the public about emergency management. The award will be presented at the FEPA Annual Meeting in Miramar Beach, Florida, on Feb. 1.
FEPA provides an educational network between emergency managers and their partners at the federal, state, county, municipal, tribal, volunteer and private industry levels.
FPREN meteorologists operate a state-of-the-art Storm Center at WUFT-TV/FM in the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. They deliver weather forecasts and timely public safety information and emergency messaging to public radio and television stations across the state of Florida.
FPREN also received the 2023 Florida Government Productivity Award from Florida TaxWatch, the Florida Council of 100 and the state of Florida for finding innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in public service.
