Globalizing American Sports

CJC’s Globalizing American Sports course includes a trip to Frankfurt, Germany, from Nov. 1-6,  to create media content surrounding the NFL game between the Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs.

RTV4930: Globalizing the NFL

The NFL is going back to Germany for the second year, and CJC is planning to be there again too! In RTV4930 Globalizing American Sports, you will learn about how American sports instances have communicated their efforts to expand internationally. The course includes a short-term study abroad program in Frankfurt, Germany, so you can experience these efforts yourself!

While in Europe, you will create media content related to the second-ever regular season game to be played in Germany between defending champs Kansas City Chiefs and Florida’s own Miami Dolphins. More than stories about the game itself, you will create content about the atmosphere surrounding this event, the local fans and the American football culture in Germany. This will allow you to interact directly with Germans and/or American expats living in Germany.

The program is short, but such stories require pre-production and post-production, which we will do from Gainesville throughout the semester. So, the class will meet for two hours on Tuesdays from 12:50 to 2:45 p.m.

The course is available to any UF undergraduate student, and CJC Professional Master’s students provided they do additional graduate work.
