Jinping Wang to Join UFCJC as an Advertising Assistant Professor in Fall 2023
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) today announced that Jinping Wang will be joining the College in fall 2023 as an assistant professor in the Department of Advertising.
Wang currently is an assistant professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Journalism and Communication. Prior to that, she was an assistant professor at the Duquesne University McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts’ Media Department in Pittsburgh. Before entering academia, she gained practical experience in various fields, including strategic communications, product management, and social media data analytics.
Wang’s research interests lie at the intersection of psychological effects of new media and persuasive communication, focusing on how affordances of media technologies shape communication behaviors and persuasion effectiveness. She has authored or co-authored nine peer-reviewed articles in leading journals, including the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Communication Research, Health Communication, and Proceedings of CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, among others. She also published 14 peer-reviewed conference papers and one book chapter on interacting with mobile media.
Her work has received several awards, such as the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Top Paper Award in the ComSHER Division and News Audience Research Award in 2019, and Top Paper Award from the International Communication Association Human-Machine Communication interest group in 2022.
Wang earned her Ph.D. in Mass Communications from Pennsylvania State University, and an M.A. in Communication Studies and B.A. in Advertising from Renmin University of China in Beijing.
