Two CJC Students Chosen for Summer Dow Jones News Fund Internships
Two University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications students, Journalism junior Camille Respess and Journalism senior Alexandria Ng, have received prestigious Dow Jones News Fund Internships (DJNF). DJNF provides paid summer internships in digital media, business reporting, news editing and data journalism for undergraduate and graduate students.
Interns attend one-week summer residencies at five journalism schools in May and June before reporting to work. Respess will participate in the Data Journalism Program at the University of Missouri before her internship at Chalkbeat, a nonprofit news organization committed to covering one of America’s most important stories: the effort to improve schools for all children, especially those who have historically lacked access to a quality education.
Before traveling to Hawaii News Now for her internship, Ng will refine her digital media skills at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. She will learn video, photography, social media, data visualization and web design before working for the digital-first television station.
The News Fund chose 79 undergraduate and graduate students from a pool of more than 779 applications. The paid internships are at 65 of the nation’s leading news organizations affiliated with the Dow Jones News Fund. The students who return to college at the end of a successful summer internship will receive $1,500 scholarships.
