UFCJC Students Honored in NATAS 2022 Suncoast Chapter Student Production Awards
Three University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) news reports were winners in the National Academy of Arts and Sciences (NATAS) 2022 Suncoast Chapter Student Production Awards competition.
In the news competition, “Never Say Never” by Chris O’Brien, B.S. Telecommunication 2021, won for best News Report – Serious News category. Victor Prieto, B.S. Journalism 2021, won in the Video Essay category for “Run, Regas, Run.” Prieto also won in the Sports Story or Segment category for “Advantage Chris.”
UFCJC students who received award nominations in this competition include:
- Multimedia Journalist: “Black Thursday” by Pamela Comme, B.S. Telecommunication 2021
- Fiction – Long Form: “The Trip” by Maria Solano, Alyssa Archard, Taylor Vorburger, Peyton McElaney and Grace Elder
- Fiction – Long Form: “The Man in Black” by Vance Buell, Samy Asfoor, Hamza Razuman, Yimeng Zhou, Vance Osteen, Tatum Westley and Sarah Husney
- Magazine Program: “Rising from the Rubble” by Elizabeth Biro, Landry Baliton, Jill Colombo, Meleah Lyden, Guamay Martell, Anthony Montalto, Samantha Narson, and Alexander Someillan
The annual Suncoast Student Production Awards encourage the pursuit of excellence in video production and focus public attention on outstanding achievements produced by college, university, and high school students.
The awards were presented on May 7 at the University of Miami School of Communication.
