Rachel Grant to Present at Online Global-Cultural Environmental Justice Symposium
Rachel Grant, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism assistant professor, will be a participant in a webinar with ecowomanist Francis Roberts-Gregory on Oct. 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Grant will provide the response to Francis Roberts-Gregory’s lecture “Resist, Recover and Reimagine: Black and Indigenous Women for Climate Justice in Gulf Coast Louisiana.” The lecture “suggests how a feminist future centering Afrofuturism and Indigenous Futurities might replace the necropolitics of toxic geographies and sacrifice zones. It also explores the possibility for interspecies survival, joy, mutual aid, pleasure, recovery, restoration, and healing by focusing on the activism, advocacy, and organizing work of Black and Indigenous women in Gulf Coast Louisiana.”
The event was organized by Imagining Climate Change and Sustainable Online Network for Global-Cultural Studies (SONGS).
