CJC Faculty and Doctoral Students Featured in the November 2018 Edition of PR Journal

Two articles by University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications faculty and doctoral students were featured in the November 2018 Public Relations Journal Volume 12: Issue 2.

Strategic Use of Facebook for Public Engagement in Higher Education Institutions,” by Public Relations doctoral student Patrick Thelen and Public Relations Associate Professor Rita Men, focused on how the UF President’s Office has strategically used Facebook. Results indicate that message appeals play a key role in increasing the public’s level of engagement and the use of humor is a powerful tool.

What Makes the Grapevine So Effective? An Employee Perspective on Employee-Organization Communication and Peer-to-Peer Communication,” by Public Relations doctoral students Katy Robinson and Patrick Thelen, looks at different forms of employee communications. They found that leaders who embrace the communication needs of employees and look to other communicative models for inspiration create better relationships and enjoy great organizational outcomes.
