“My Kid is Not Crazy: A Search for Hope in the Face of Misdiagnosis,” an award-winning documentary by University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Telecommunication Associate Professor and filmmaker Tim Sorel, will be featured on the July 20 broadcast of ABC’s “20/20” at 10 p.m.

The program focuses on three families across the country who have watched their children rapidly begin to exhibit a wide range of psychiatric and neurological problems – after a brush with strep throat. The condition, known as Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANDAS), is the subject of Sorel’s documentary, which    tracks the journey of six children and their families as they become tangled in the nightmare of a medical system influenced by the pharmaceutical industry.

Sorel was also interviewed for the “20/20” piece.
