The new University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Center for Public Interest Communications (CPIC) and Ann Christiano, Frank Karel Endowed Chair in Public Interest Communications and CPIC director, were featured in “Can Behavioral Science Help Make Stories and Reporting More Complete?” published on poynter.org on Feb. 20.

Christiano explains that the first-ever Center will explore how to build a better bridge between the ivory tower of science research and the newsroom. Journalism will need to be more “audience-centric” in order to be more successful.

“We’re having really interesting conversations exploring how to bring [social science] into the newsrooms and to help with engagement, and to connect reporters with their communities in a new way,” said Christiano.
