Methodology
The Political Sentiment Poll, was conducted as an online survey to examine voters’ feelings toward presidential candidates. The survey was distributed via the MTurk Panel on January 26th, 2020. The poll was based on responses from 200 voters including Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.
To measure respondents’ emotional responses toward presidential candidates, the non-verbal, visual measure AdSAM® was employed. The culture-free and gender-free instrument uses three different rows of graphic characters called Manikins, which represent each respondent’s feelings toward the presidential candidates. The rows measure Appeal, Engagement and Empowerment.
In addition, there were several questions to identify respondent demographics and political party preference. The questionnaire included questions to examine voters’ emotional responses to feelings about the presidential candidates and issues related to the upcoming election.
