Michael Weigold named Director of Distance Education
University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Advertising Professor Michael Weigold has been named Director of Distance Education for the College, Dean Diane McFarlin announced today.
Weigold, who also serves as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Affairs and Enrollment Management for the College, will be responsible for the oversight of all the College’s undergraduate and graduate distance learning efforts.
“Distance learning is a strong component of the University of Florida’s preeminence effort and Mike will work closely with our faculty and staff, and UF Online staff, to identify additional distance learning opportunities for our College,” said McFarlin.
Weigold has been involved in distance learning efforts for many years, most significantly spearheading the development of the College’s first online master’s degree, the MAMC – Web Design and Online Communication, which launched in Spring 2012.
Weigold, who joined the UF faculty in 1989 and was named Associate Dean of Undergraduate Affairs in 2010, earned his doctorate degree from UF in 1989.
