Wenlin Liu to Join UFCJC as a Public Relations Associate Professor in August 2024
Wenlin Liu will join the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) in August 2024 as an associate professor in the Public Relations Department.
Liu is currently an associate professor of strategic communication at the University of Houston Jack J. Valenti School of Communication. Her research focuses on multiethnic community building, organization-public relationships and social media-mediated disaster communication.
Liu has led several grant-funded projects examining how public sector organizations use social media to manage multiethnic community relations during natural disasters. Her recent work examines inter-agency collaboration and the role of organization-public relationships in the public acceptance of COVID-19 vaccines.
With over 45 publications, Liu’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Communication Research, Communication Monographs, Journal of Applied Communication Research and Public Relations Review, among others.
She is an editorial board member of Mass Communication and Society and Public Relations Review and serves as an ad-hoc journal reviewer for many publications including the Journal of Communication, Communication Research, New Media & Society and Mass Communication and Society.
Liu received a bachelor’s degree from Peking University, a master’s from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
