Megan Borowski Places First in the 2023 National Weather Association Graduate Student Showcase
Megan Borowski, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Division of Media Properties senior multimedia meteorologist, placed first in the National Weather Association (NWA) Graduate Student Showcase at the 48th annual NWA Meeting in Kansas City, Missouri held Sept. 9-13.
Her presentation, “Evaluating High-Resolution Rapid Refresh Short-Term Forecasts of Sea Breeze Rainfall Under Different Synoptic Regimes” outlined the research she is conducting in pursuit of her Master’s in Geography. Her presentation was judged against the work of other graduate students who participated in the conference. The honor comes with a $150 award.
The NWA is a member-led professional association supporting and promoting excellence in operational meteorology and related activities since 1975.
Borowski is also part of the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN) team. FPREN, housed in the UFCJC, delivers timely public safety information and emergency messaging to public radio and television stations across the state of Florida.
