White House Correspondent’s Association Scholarship, JCal, and more opportunities with AAJA
Hi student journalists! AAJA is excited to announce some new opportunities and wanted to remind you of those that have upcoming deadlines.
For those of you who are graduating and will enroll in college, AAJA’s joint scholarship with WHCA, the White House Correspondents’ Association Scholarship, is accepting applications until January 15, 2023. The selected scholar will receive a $2,000 grant, an invitation to the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner and the opportunity to be mentored by a WHCA member.
For those of you in high school, AAJA is proud to announce their new program JCal in partnership with CalMatters. Through this opportunity, you’ll be able to work in the CalMatters newsroom in Sacramento, gain regional journalism connections and report on water and drought in local communities. We’re looking for excellent student reporters like you to be part of our inaugural cohort, so please apply, share with others you know who may be interested and refer to our JCal FAQ with any questions. The priority deadline is February 1 at 11:59 PT, after which applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
