Southern Hospitality Internship Program (SHIP) Application Fee Lowered

The Southern Hospitality Internship Program was created in response to the labor crisis. After conducting a study, we discovered that 93% of people interviewed said that their company was dealing with employee staffing challenges, and that the top 3 issues related to employee availability are adequate qualified candidates, attendance, and commuting distance. We wanted a way to help solve that problem. Through our internship program, we help high school students, college students and recent graduates of both, gain real life work experience in the hospitality industry. We believe that only so much can be learned in the classroom, and internships are the perfect opportunity to challenge students and prepare them for a career.

Our internship program is based in Sevier County, providing people with real life experience in a $4 billion hospitality industry. You’ll be just a short drive from the most visited national park and get to enjoy the best of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. In addition to jobs in tourism and hospitality management, our 14-week paid internship program covers a variety of career paths of interest, from accounting to sports management & recreation.

Recently, our Business Partners proposed and support a new fee structure for SHIP’s interns.

  • SHIP’s ‘Student Participation Fee’ has been reduced to $100 (non-refundable) per semester.
  • SHIP’s business partners (Intern Employer) will sponsor and fund $250 for each of their interns.

The first step of the application process is to fill out the application here. Once your application is submitted, your application will be reviewed to determine if our internship program is a right fit for you.
