Clay Calvert Comments on Free Speech on Twitter
Clay Calvert, director of the Marion B. Brechner First Amendment Project and Brechner Eminent Scholar in Mass Communication at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, is quoted in“Musk Wants Free Speech on Twitter After Spending Years Silencing Critics” posted on Bloomberg.com on April 21.
The article focuses on Elon Musk’s possible acquisition of Twitter, Inc. and his promise to transform it into a platform for free speech with few restrictions. So far, he has a mixed record on championing the free speech cause.
“It’s always hard when you put humans in charge of making decisions about what speech should be allowed or what speech should not be allowed,” said Calvert. “The one answer for people who object to Twitter’s content moderation policies is forming your own company.”
