Roxane Coche, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Media Production, Management, and Technology (MPMT) assistant professor, has been named Associate Chair of the department, effective immediately.
Coche’s primary responsibility will be to coordinate and lead the department’s assessment efforts for both the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. She will work with UFCJC Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs James Babanikos, MPMT faculty, and Department Chair David Ostroff to gather data, lead discussions of results, and prepare reports. She will also work with Ostroff on the MPMT Advisory Council, particularly in increasing student involvement in Council activities. She will be serving a one-year, renewable term.
Coche will retain her current course load but will step down from her position as Associate Director of the Sports and Communication Program. Prior to joining UF in 2018, she had been an assistant professor in the Department of Journalism and Strategic Media at the University of Memphis. Born and raised in France, she began her career as a freelance sports reporter and producer in Paris.
