Harrison Hove Named CJC Summer Media Institute Director
Harrison Hove, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) Journalism Department associate chair and lecturer, has been selected as the new CJC Summer Media Institute (SMI) director.
Hove has advised multiple student organizations at UF including the National Broadcasting Society and the Association of LGBTQ Journalists. Prior to his current role, he served as a multimedia news manager in the UFCJC Innovation News Center. Before joining UFCJC in 2017, he worked at news stations in Tallahassee and Palm Beach, Florida, and Lafayette, Ohio, as a reporter, meteorologist, news anchor and digital content producer. His ability to connect his industry experience with the classroom curriculum to create a meaningful experience for students earned him the honor of UF’s Undergraduate Teacher of the Year 2020-2021.
SMI is a five-night, six-day workshop in which high school students are immersed in journalism and communications. For several years, Hove has held the role of SMI specialization instructor in both the live and virtual formats. The 2022 event will be held June 19-24.
