CJC Student Journalists Honored in 2021 Florida Society of News Editors Awards Competition
Three University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications student journalists were honored in the Florida Society of News Editors 2021 Journalism Contest Student Division. Journalism senior Karina Elwood received first place in Enterprise Writing for “Standing on Dignity: In Ocala, Strict Policing Pushes Homeless Population Out of Sight.” Journalism senior Sara Riley Drussell and Cheyce Batchelor, B.S. Journalism 2020, received second place in the same category for “I Began to Call and Demand Answers: A Jail Inmate’s Mother Searches for Justice in Two Cases.”
The annual competition honors the year’s best journalists. The winners will be recognized at the Florida Media Conference on July 15-16 in Sarasota.
