Ann Christiano and Jack Barry Participate in Podcast Discussion on Establishing Public Trust in a COVID-19 Vaccine

Ann Christiano, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Center for Public Interest Communications director, and Jack Barry, a post-doctoral research associate for the Center, were featured in the GovExec Daily podcast “Establishing Public Trust in a Vaccine” on Dec. 7.

Christiano and Barry discuss how officials can promote health measures to help in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and encourage trust in a coronavirus vaccine as it becomes available.

The podcast focused on fluctuating public trust in a potential coronavirus vaccine, with the most-recent polling showing that almost 40 percent of Americans are hesitant to receive the vaccine. With a nation itching to get back to “normal,” public health officials and agencies have a challenge in communicating the importance of getting vaccinated toward that goal.

The Center for Public Interest Communications recently developed a communication strategy guide for the UN Verified Initiative.
