Jasmine McNealy to Participate in ISP Virtual Cyber Policy Series on Sonic Privacy
Jasmine McNealy, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications associate director of the Marion B. Brechner First Amendment Project and Telecommunication associate professor, will participate in the Yale Law School Information Society Project’s (ISP) Virtual Cyber Policy series on July 3.
McNealy will speak on Sonic Privacy. This study considers the collection of sound-related data and proposes a theory of sonic privacy for data collection. Sonic privacy examines the right of individuals related to their sonic emissions and distinguishes between sounds heard by other individuals and those collected through technological machinations. The session will include privacy related to sound and cases and legislation, specifically in the area of surreptitious recording.
ISP is an intellectual center at Yale Law School. It supports a community of interdisciplinary scholars who explore issues at the intersection of law, technology, and society.
