Guidance for Employees While Performing UF Work
FROM: Joe Glover, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

As you may have seen, Governor DeSantis has issued a “safer at home” executive order that addresses essential services and activities for the state of Florida, which will go into effect April 3. Because of actions that the University of Florida has already taken, we do not expect that the Governor’s order will require any changes in how we serve our students, care for our patients or operate our campus facilities.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, the University of Florida has implemented a variety of measures to be responsive to the changing realities associated with the pandemic. As a result, since March 24, the University of Florida has been operating in a manner consistent with this executive order as well as local county guidance. At present, only essential personnel should be working on or at any university facility. Importantly, university and health care activities are explicitly referenced throughout the executive order and its memoranda.
As a reminder, we have two categories of essential employees—those who are on-campus essential and remote essential. To remain compliant with this executive order, please confirm that only employees who have been designated as on-campus essential are physically working on campus or at any UF facility and those who are essential but working remotely only are on campus when absolutely necessary for critical business operations and with supervisory approval. As a reminder, this information is provided to employees while in the course and scope of their UF work only. Employees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the order as it relates to their personal activities outside of work.
