State University System Extends Remote Learning

TALLAHASSEE – The health and well-being of our university students, faculty, and staff is of utmost importance. In accordance with interim guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommending that in-person events consisting of 10 people or more be canceled or postponed to reduce introduction of the virus into new communities and to slow the spread of infection in communities already affected by the virus, the State University System directs all state universities to take the following actions to minimize the health and safety risks to students, faculty, staff and their campus communities:

REMOTE INSTRUCTION

Effective immediately, remote instruction will continue through the end of the Spring semester at each state university and students who can return home should return home. Though not required at this time, state universities should consider using remote instruction for the early summer terms.

COMMENCEMENT

Traditional on-campus commencement ceremonies will not be held in May. Instead, each university is directed to develop an alternate schedule or method of delivery.

The State University System is actively monitoring conditions in the State of Florida as it pertains to COVID-19 and working closely with Governor DeSantis and state officials to take all actions necessary to protect the health and safety of our campus communities.
