CJC Launches “We Are CJC” Multicultural Initiative
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications today launched “We Are CJC,” a multicultural initiative created to highlight and support the College’s diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
In celebration of Black History Month, “We Are CJC” will highlight five Black, female faculty, staff and students who are at the forefront of cultural exchange with the community. In this five-part video series, they will offer their reflections as Black women within the academy.
The first video features series producer Raegan Burden, lecturer of Cultural Engagement in the Department of Advertising. Future videos will feature:
- Brett Ball, a CJC doctoral student.
- Rachel Grant, assistant professor, Department of Journalism
- Mira Lowe, assistant dean for student experiences and director, Innovation News Center.
- Jasmine McNealy, associate director, Marion B. Brechner First Amendment Project and associate professor, Department of Telecommunication.
For Black History Month, the College’s Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee will feature profiles of Black faculty and staff throughout the month. You can see the profiles here: https://wwwtest.jou.ufl.edu/idec-bhm/.
