Robyn Goodman Named Advertising Department Interim Chair
Robyn Goodman, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Advertising associate professor, has been named Interim Chair of the Advertising Department, effective July 15. Goodman succeeds Tom Kelleher who was previously named incoming Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research.
Goodman has been with CJC since 2000 and was promoted to associate professor in 2006. Her leadership and service roles at CJC have included Advertising Department Associate Chair in 2014-15, Faculty Senate Chair in 2009-2010 and Constitution Committee Chair in 2007-2008. She also has served as the advertising graduate coordinator. Last year, Goodman was named CJC Teacher of the Year.
She has published six book chapters and 14 articles in refereed journals with an additional five in progress or under review. She has presented more than 30 papers at numerous conferences, including ICA, AEJMC, AAA, the Association for Marketing and Health Care Research, Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication conference and the Midwest Political Science Association conference.
While at UF, she has won or been nominated for 11 national, regional and local creative awards, including an Emmy nomination and bronze Clio as creative director for a Miami Marlins TV campaign, and bronze Telly awards in 2010, 2012 and 2013 as creative director for three sports-related TV spots.
Prior to joining CJC, Goodman was a teaching assistant and then assistant instructor at the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees. She earned a B.J. degree from the University of Missouri.
