Ray Hawthorne and Megan Borowski Join the CJC and FPREN Weather Team
Meteorologists Ray Hawthorne and Megan Borowski have joined the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Division of Media Properties weather team to provide on-air and online reports for WUFT and WRUF. They also will work with the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN) and the South Carolina Emergency Information Network (SCEIN).
Hawthorne was an on-air meteorologist for WCTV in Tallahassee, Florida, before working for Weather Central and Weather Services International (owned by The Weather Channel). Along with his computer programming skills, he has also trained, installed, and managed weather graphics systems used by nearly 280 television stations across the U.S. He has a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology from Florida State University. Hawthorne will work on-air as a meteorologist and will also serve as the digital coordinator for FPREN and SCEIN.
Borowski received her bachelor’s degree in Meteorology from Rutgers University. She was a freelance meteorologist for ABC News in New York City where she produced content for “Good Morning America’s” Ginger Zee and Rob Marciano. She also worked as a forecaster for WNBC and interned at the National Weather Service.
