Wayne Wanta Recognized in UF International Center Newsletter
Wayne Wanta, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Journalism professor, is an insulin-dependent diabetic who travels extensively to lecture and deliver research presentations. His efforts to successfully keep diabetes from interfering with his work were saluted by the UF International Center UF Global Oct. 15 newsletter during National Disabilities Month.
Wanta is internationally known for his research in political communication and media effects, with 200 refereed publications and convention papers. He has lectured and delivered research presentations in 50 different countries. He also has authored or co-authored eight books.
He is currently in Tunisia, the 73rd country that he has visited. He has given lectures, taught classes or presented research in more than 50 countries. Wanta’s diabetes has never been an issue due to adjustments in insulin intake and packing plenty of medication for his trips.
