Andrew Selepak Comments on “Stealthing” and STD Risk
Andrew Selepak, University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications director of the online Master’s program with a specialization in social media, was quoted in “This Dangerous Sex Trend Could Give You an STD – Or Worse,” published in the Reader’s Digest October 2017 edition.
In the article, Selepak comments on the practice of “stealthing” or removal of a condom at some point during a sexual encounter without the woman’s consent or knowledge. He argues that young people learn that condoms prevent pregnancy in their sex education classes, but they can also be effective in the prevention of STDs. He claims that while this may be a difficult discussion to have with students it can also be an important deterrent.
