CJC Students Excel in Annual Hearst Journalism Awards Competition
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications has earned six top 10 finishes and two first place finishes in the prestigious 2016 Hearst Journalism Awards, the best performance in the competition in many years.
Winners include:
Caitie Switalski: first place in Radio Reporting
Drea Cornejo: first place in Multimedia Enterprise, sixth place in Picture Story, eighth place in Photo News and Features, 13th place in Multimedia News
Maggie Lorenz: fourth place in Television News
Alexa Lorenzo: eighth place in Radio Reporting
Alex Maminakis: 10th place in Sports Writing
Danielle Prinz: 11th places in Television News
Ashley Lombardo: 11th place in Feature Writing
Briana Erickson: 12th place in Enterprise Reporting
Tamara Dobry: 13th place tie in Multimedia News
Chris Totzke: 13th place in Multimedia Features
Grace King: 14th place in Multimedia News
Justin Tompkins: 16th place in Multimedia Features
As first place finalists in their respective categories, Switalski and Cornejo have qualified to compete in the national competition in San Francisco from May 29 – June 2.
