Juan-Carlos Molleda, former University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications Public Relations Department Chair, has been granted Emeritus status by UF Provost Joseph Glover.

During his 16-year tenure, Molleda launched both an online undergraduate program and two online master’s programs in public relations and communication management (including UF’s first online master’s in both English and Spanish). He led the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) certification process, raised the stature of the department’s Advisory Council, and introduced new classes into the curriculum. The UFCJC Public Relations program is now regarded as one of the best in the nation.

Molleda left UF in July to serve as dean at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication.
